At SAM School, we believe education is a partnership between the student, parents, and teachers who work together to create an effective and enhanced learning community.  There are many ways that parents can be active participants in our school community.

Parent Information Station
Housed in the hallway next to the Spirit Wall, is our Parent Information Station.  Information from parent groups, school group minutes, community news and activities are routinely posted. Parents are welcome to browse through these materials.

Local Advisory Committee (LAC)
This is a committee of kindergarten parents.  The executive is selected at a kindergarten parent meeting in the fall.  The nature of the kindergarten program requires active parental involvement. Kindergarten parents receive regular communication through the kindergarten newsletter.

School Council
Meetings are usually held on the third Tuesday of every month beginning at 7:00 p.m. and provide opportunities for all parents and community members to:

• Share information, ideas, concerns between the community and school

• Aid the school administration in an advisory capacity, and
• Serve to facilitate the exchange of ideas and concerns between the community and the Board.

SAM Fundraising Society
This committee’s purpose is to provide services and raise funds to enhance learning and enrich the educational experience of students at SAM.  The mandate of the group is to raise funds and allocate those funds that in such a way as to benefit the entire school population.  Funds have been used to assist with the purchase of computers, multimedia projectors, and digital cameras, math and science manipulatives, TVs/VCRs, CD players, physical education equipment, music and sound equipment, library materials, and playground items.  E-mail SAM Fundraising Society
