Pro Social Skills
This school wide program presents a well-validated technique
designed to teach, model, and reinforce the behaviours necessary
for effective and satisfying social interaction. When students
interact in a positive way, they develop self-esteem and receive
positive responses from peers. This contributes to positive
classroom behaviour which is an important prerequisite to
academic growth. Students have opportunities to practice pro
social skills at SAM School which should transfer to the home
and community. Each month features an identified pro social
skill and SAM students are encouraged and expected to take
ownership of and be accountable for their behaviour.

Caught Being Good
This program recognizes and reinforces students’ positive
behaviours. Cards are distributed to students for random acts
of kindness, good citizenship, and pro social, positive
attitudes. Winners from each grade level are further recognized
with a Caught Being Good T-shirt or they may choose from several
other rewards. As well, their picture is taken with the
administration team and is displayed on the Caught Being Good
bulletin board.
Student of the Month
Each
teacher may nominate one student per month for entry into our
draw. The students nominated for this award exemplify good
school citizenship. The Student of the Month is recognized by
the staff and students at our monthly assemblies.
Golden Garbage
Our
custodian team appreciates cleanliness and selects one class
from each division to receive this important reward. Clean
classrooms enable our custodial staff to accomplish larger jobs
on a regular basis. The award winners proudly display the
Golden Garbage trophy in their classroom.
Golden Shoe
This
award is presented to a Division 1 classroom that keeps their
boot room and coat area tidy. The Golden Shoe Award is
displayed in their classroom.
