Our
Mission
Statement
-
All
students and staff can be life-long learners.
Parents and teachers together, inspire children’s
desire to learn and motivation to be successful.
-
All
students are unique, as are all staff members.
Together, we are the product of our experiences and
our opportunities. As a result, we all have
different interests, goals, values, knowledge, and
perspectives. Our school values every student and
staff member as an individual. We endeavor to
demonstrate respect, and to acknowledge the rich
variety of skills and expertise that each brings.
-
Students learn by doing, so do all staff. Schools
need to provide opportunities for students and staff
to take ownership of their learning. They need to
have some input into decisions that affect them and
need to know why they are undertaking tasks.
Opportunities for discovering and making connections
must be part of the organization for learning.
Improvement in language and thought are the keys to
progress in all areas.
Sir Alexander
Mackenzie School’s Mandate
Students deserve adult models around them who are
committed to high quality education for today's world
and for the future, so do all staff. Everything said or
done by staff sends a message that says, "We believe in
you. We believe education is important. What we do in
this school really matters. We will work to help you be
successful. We expect you to do your part by caring for
others, respecting yourself, and doing the very best you
can.”
In our commitment to public education, and to maximize student
potential,
We believe that . . .
-
each student is entitled to a quality education,
-
each student is unique,
-
each student has worth and dignity,
-
each student has rights and responsibilities,
-
each student is entitled to equity of educational
opportunity,
-
we
must be responsive to the needs of our community,
-
we
must practice participative decision making.
Sir Alexander
Mackenzie School’s Priority Areas
In addition to maintaining outstanding academic success,
Sir Alexander Mackenzie School and our stakeholder
groups have chosen to focus on three priority areas:
-
Evolve our school-wide Pro Social Skills Program to
enhance the overall well-being of students and
staff.
-
Develop innovative approaches to learning, such as
the integration of technology in learning to support
all aspects of the curriculum.
-
Provide professional development opportunities for
technology, Healthy Interactions, and support of
individual staff professional goals.
