Spirit Wall
- "The Spirit Wall is a visual reminder
that we must constantly work at making our world a better
place. It represents the ideal world and lets us know
that we have a journey ahead of us ... to be good citizens.
We start our journey at Sir Alexander Mackenzie School."

Goals
for the Spirit Wall are:
-
To
bring people together.
-
To
present a meaningful message.
-
To
build success and hope.
-
To
strengthen the ties between SAM School and
the community.
-
To
allow students and staff to learn together and have fun.
The circle shape
represents the “CIRCLE OF LIFE” as well as the old karmic
philosophy of “What goes around, comes around.” So. . . if
we practice and model the values featured on the Spirit
Wall, others around us will hopefully do the same.
The globe is a
symbol of our responsibility to really live those universal
values such as honesty, integrity, respect, responsibility,
mutual cooperation, fairness, etc. wherever in the world
we may be.
The parchment finish
and look of an old world map remind us that just as maps
have guided us for centuries in the past, as we (humankind)
have moved around the world, this moral, ethical, “values
map” will guide us in living peaceful, ethical lives in the
future.
The interlocking
puzzle pieces with every SAM citizen’s signature
represent a commitment for each one of us that this is not
only one person’s responsibility, but something that we all
do together in the spirit of mutual cooperation if we are to
achieve our ultimate goal of world peace.
SAM citizens contributed
to the Spirit Wall by sharing their family’s words of wisdom
with us. These inspirational quotations guide us in becoming
the best that we can be in a world of peace. Each year SAM students
and staff sign the perimeter puzzle pieces of the Spirit
Wall. Individual signatures will symbolize dedication to the
universal values and other inherent messages of the Spirit
Wall.
